About Janet and Archer Counselling
Janet Irwin's professional experience includes 12 years of counselling individuals, couples, families and/or caregivers in relation to a broad range of personal problems that are affecting their lives.
She has worked in various therapeutic and medical contexts including both private and government mental health and addiction facilities, non-profit community organisations, women's health services, adolescent mental health units, emergency departments, medical detoxification services, community alcohol and drug services and a 12-step based hospital for people and their families with alcohol and drug concerns.
Janet has particular experience in the field of addiction, as well as working with people affected by anxiety, panic, depression, suicidal thoughts, stress, body image, grief, self criticism, hearing voices, alcohol and past violence or abuse.
She is bound by her professional ethics as a Registered Nurse with the Nurses Board of Western Australia and is a member of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses as well as Drug and Alcohol Nurses of Australasia Inc.

Janet's practice base and range of therapy services have grown through extensive experience in the alcohol and drug field and the mental health systems both in Australia and New Zealand.
In addition to her formal postgraduate training in counselling and health sciences, she has expanded beyond and integrated learning in a range of psychotherapy practices including narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, strengths based practices, Hakomi (mindfulness based psychotherapy) and psychodrama.
